EDGECOMBE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: PowerSchool School-Based Data Manager
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 months/8 hours per day, or as determined by funding/program needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum, high school diploma, supplemented by specialized course work in the area of technology;
2. Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in the use of PowerSchool preferred;
3. Good communication skills (verbal and written);
4. Considerable knowledge of the student information management system used by the school system, operating procedures, related components, capabilities, limitations and system requirements;
5. Extensive knowledge of and experience with MicroSoft Office software programs – Word, Excel, AS400, and other student information software packages required;
6. Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Accountability Services
JOB GOAL: Performs specialized technical and administrative work in the support, operation and coordination of the computerized student information management system for Edgecombe County Public Schools.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists school-based personnel in implementing standards and operating procedures established for management of student data;
- Collects data from staff, consolidates and creates summary databases/reports, as needed;
- Uses common software packages (word processing, spreadsheet) to produce additional reports, department-specific assignments and program management area(s), as assigned;
- Provides assistance in all areas of student information, developing attendance reporting formats, grade reporting, registration and scheduling, discipline reporting, etc.
- Works directly with teachers in the use of the electronic gradebook system;
- Trains and communicates PowerSchool procedures to designated school backup person on a regular basis;
- Relays all new information on PowerSchool policies and procedures to appropriate school personnel;
- Completes required program reports in accordance with local, State and Federal guidelines;
- Performs other such duties, which may be assigned.

· Thorough knowledge of office practice, procedures, and methods.
· Considerable knowledge of office machines required of the assigned position. · Considerable knowledge of a wide range of laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines required to operate a public school system.
· Ability to produce work at a very high level of accuracy and speed.
· Ability to plan and organize work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. · Considerable knowledge of school system operations.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of information technology devices, audiovisual equipment, basic computer operation and software. Ability to learn various computer operations required for management of student information and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
Other: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on the division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally the employee will lift up to 50 lbs. such as to lift files, paper, school supplies, books, etc.
