POSITION:                           Deputy Finance Officer

 

PURPOSE:   To direct Accounting, Accounts Payable and Purchasing functions, and assist the Finance Officer in all aspects of overseeing the financial operations of the school system.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:           

  1. Minimum, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  2. Five or more years of work experience involving finance operations in a business or school system. School system experience preferred.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of financial operations, programs, fund accounting, accounts payable process, payroll deductions, preparation and reporting requirements.
  4. Extensive knowledge of and experience with Excel required; School business financial software experience preferred.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships as necessitated by the work assignment.
  6. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel and central office staff.
  7. Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal policies and statues.
  8. Ability to coordinate, plan and meet deadlines, accomplish specific task, or meet specific standards.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment

 

REPORTS TO:         Finance Officer         

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

Possess and maintain a NC Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: 

 

 

SALARY:       Edgecombe County Public Schools Central Office Administrative Schedule

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12 months/8 hours per day, or as determined by

                               Funding/program needs. 

 

EVALUATION: Annually, Classified Personnel Appraisal Instrument
