JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

POSITION: Maintenance Mechanic IV (Heating/Air Conditioning (HVAC))

 

QUALIFICATIONS: - High School diploma or GED

  • Must have CFC/EPA Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years practical, on-the-job experience 
  • Must hold a valid NC driver’s license with a driving record sufficient to gain approval by the Board of Education’s insurance carrier to operate BOE motor vehicles at will
    • Must be familiar with most types of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment
    • Must have a working knowledge of all the tools of the trade

 

  • Must be computer literate
  • Able to perform heavy work, exerting 100 pounds of force occasionally and 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Able to work for extended periods of time in uncontrolled environments and be exposed to very hot or cold temperatures, high levels of noise and vibration, smoke, dust and other hazards

 

 REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance   

 

JOB GOAL:   To install and maintain all air conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment in the district.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Maintain neat appearance, courteous conduct, and work amicably with all school and Facility                                                 Services personnel

  1. Be willing to take any additional training provided by the Board of Education or community college that would relate to this field of work
  2. Help install and provide general maintenance for all air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment
  3. Learn and maintain air filters changing schedule
  4. Endeavor to provide a safe work environment
  5. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Maintenance.

 

SALARY: Classified Salary Schedule, Pay Grade M-62

(Minimum Base Monthly Salary - $2,640.06)  

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12 months

 

EVALUATION: Semi-Annually on district evaluation instrument
