Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to join our team at SouthWest Edgecombe High School. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic success of our students. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the School Social Worker will provide direct services to students, collaborate with staff and families, and promote a positive school climate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement intervention plans tailored to student needs.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions on social-emotional learning and mental health awareness for staff and students.
  • Serve as a resource for crisis intervention and support, including suicide prevention and conflict resolution.
  • Advocate for students and families, connecting them with community resources and services as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress in compliance with school and district policies.
  • Participate in school meetings, committees, and professional development activities to enhance the school environment.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school social work and mental health.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Valid certification in School Social Work as mandated by NC.
  • Proven experience working with adolescents in a school or community setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations, including students, families, and school staff.
  • Knowledge of local mental health resources and community services.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment.
