The Title I Academic Dean is a key instructional leadership position responsible for enhancing academic achievement for all students, with a specific focus on Cambridge International Education and those experiencing academic challenges. This position will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to implement and monitor Title I programs and initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instructional Leadership:
- Provide instructional leadership to improve student achievement by analyzing data, setting goals, and monitoring progress.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies and interventions.
- Model effective instructional practices through classroom observations and coaching.
- Support professional development opportunities for teachers aligned with Title I goals.
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers and staff related to effective instruction, differentiation, and assessment.
- Build a collaborative and supportive school culture focused on student achievement.
- Oversee the Cambridge academic programs and activities
- Title I Program Management:
- Oversee the implementation of academic programs and activities.
- Monitor budget expenditures and ensure compliance with fund regulations for supplemental academic programs.
- Collect and analyze student achievement data to inform program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
- Develop and implement strategies to address the specific needs of at-risk students.
- Student Support:
- Provide academic support and intervention to struggling students through tutoring, mentoring, and small group instruction.
- Collaborate with counselors and other support staff to address students' social and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with counselors and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to improve student attendance and engagement.
- Parent and Community Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with parents and guardians to foster collaboration and support student success.
- Communicate effectively with parents about student progress and support programs.
- Collaborate with community partners to provide additional support services for students and families.
- Graduation Cohort Rate Improvement:
- Collaborate with counselors and other support staff to analyze graduation cohort rate data to identify trends and areas of concern.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase graduation rates, such as early warning systems, credit recovery programs, and dropout prevention initiatives.
- Collaborate with counselors and other support staff to monitor student progress toward graduation and provide support to students at risk of dropping out.
- Collaborate with counselors and other support staff to develop personalized graduation plans for students.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education or related field preferred
- Valid North Carolina teaching license required
- Successful teaching experience
- Demonstrated leadership and instructional coaching skills
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students, staff, and parents
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in school and district-wide meetings, committees, and professional development
- Prepare and submit required reports and documentation
- Other duties as assigned
